Thrive Moss Side
Projects > Thrive Moss Side
Helping young Manchester Thrive Three-quarters of UK children spend less time outside than prison inmates. Active play and learning is essential to the health and development of children. Our Thrive Moss Side sessions aim to tackle this. This project was funded by the Manchester Health and Care Commissioning Thrive Grant, administered by the Young Manchester charity. Sessions targeted specific groups to improve mental health and wellbeing including: youth offenders, youth groups and school groups. Young people took part in sessions throughout 2021 including gardening, environmental arts and cooking at the Powerhouse; DIY and woodwork at the Boiler House and green wellbeing visits to local community greenspaces. Activities built on previous successful youth projects at the Boiler House partnering with youth organisations Manchester Young Lives, Hideaway and Remedi and young person’s ecotherapy project #Thrive in Rochdale.
