Men’s Shed

Men’s Shed

Our Men’s Shed project is based at The Boiler House in Moss Side. The project focuses on men’s health by encouraging social integration, skill sharing and community building, facilitated through regular practical sessions.

"I have worked with Sam for around a year now and this is the first time he has gone through with something like this. He may not make it next week but even if not this has been a bit of a breakthrough for all."

Chloe Leaver, Housing and Wellbeing Worker

Bringing men out of the woodwork

Men’s sheds are an established model where community space is created for men to connect, converse and create. The activities are often similar to those of garden sheds, but for groups of men to enjoy together. They help reduce loneliness and isolation but most importantly they’re fun.

The Men’s Shed is based at The Boiler House in Moss Side. Nick, an experienced joiner, carpenter and trainer, runs weekly sessions teaching woodwork to men of different ages and backgrounds. Although sessions focus mainly on woodwork and furniture restoration, many participants bring their own interests and ideas to the group.
